From vlogger to lecturer

A quick heads up about vlogging. YouTube vlogger Blade 376 (aka UH 2nd year Humanities student Myles Dyer) was invited by Sally Graham to come and talk to their first year BEds. Sally wondered “… could I really ask a 20 year old 2nd year Humanities students him to stand up in front of over 100 students and talk for 15 mins?”. she needn’t have worried.

The main focus of the lecture was on how vlogging had helped him to become a more confident speaker. And this is evident in the way he was able to present to the audience - very confident. It reminds me of Tim Wilson’s post on graduate skills in which he refers to a report by the think-tank Demos. The report details the top four situations that make recent graduates feel awkward at work: challenging senior colleagues; negotiating; speaking in meetings and making presentations. Clearly vlogging has something to offer here.

Sally talks more about this so I suggest going over to her blog for the the details, (here).
