Top Ten Missing Features of Second Life as an Educational Simulation Platform
Okay so another item for you Second Lifers and virtual world enthusiasts. Clark Aldrich in his blog has posted a top 10 list of MISSING features in SL as an educational platform. A couple of interesting ones include:
# Dynamic AI Characters, with which participants can repeatedly try new behavior to see how they react (see artificial intelligence (AI) player/agent: more patient than real people) and interesting computer controlled, scriptable units in general for a player to influence (see list of attributes of units)
# Levels (and specifically developing skills in the simulation: why computer games could be so relevant) and tasks (because learners can handle more than one thing at a time) and milestones.
What does anyone else think? One comment left of the blog suggests that these features are not there by default (and hence missing because of this) but can be included through using SL programming scripts? Is this really achievable?
